HAYDN® UNVEILS HAYDN®UP™: NEW ZEALAND'S FIRST ECO-CONSCIOUS PAINTING & DECORATING TOOLS

  • 3 min read

Haydn®, New Zealand's leader in the painting and decorating tools industry for over half a century, has taken a significant leap towards sustainability with the introduction of Haydn®UP™. This groundbreaking range of eco-conscious products represents a new era in eco-friendly tools, that harmoniously blend high-quality performance with an unwavering commitment to preserving the environment.

Haydn® UP™ is a testament to Haydn's enduring dedication to sustainability, evident in every step of its creation, from sourcing renewable materials to eco-friendly packaging. The product range has been engineered to prioritise sustainability, recyclability and biodegradability, while maintaining the exceptional quality and aordability that customers have come to expect from Haydn®.

Key Features of Haydn®UP™

Evergood™ Materials

Haydn® UP™ utilises Evergood™, that combines the fastest growing plant in the world, bamboo, with polypropylene, resulting in a material perfect for moulding in to paint brush and paint rollers handles.

Closed-Loop Recycling

These innovative tools can be returned to Haydn® at the end of their lifespan, initiating a closed-loop recycling process that significantly reduces waste and resource consumption. All Evergood™ tools can be recycled up to 5 times.

Compostable and Biodegradable Options

Haydn®UP™ goes the extra mile by also offering compostable and biodegradable tool alternatives, like drop sheets made from corn starch and recycled cardboard paint trays made from paper pulp. Those paint trays come with a 3-liner pack that is made from 100% recycled plastic, and can be rinsed and reused again and again, resulting in less waste and further reducing their environmental footprint. That way, the recycled plastic liners don’t compromise the tray’s biodegradability, as it won’t be in contact with harsh chemicals from paints or varnishes.

The Haydn® UP™ range is the sustainable choice that doesn't compromise on quality or price, revolutionising the way eco-friendly solutions are approached in the painting and decorating sector. Haydn® transforms discarded materials into durable tools, that not only minimise waste, but also deliver exceptional performance.

"Today, more than ever, sustainability is of paramount importance. At Haydn®, we are dedicated to minimising our environmental footprint and supporting a greener future. Haydn® UP™ is the culmination of years of research and development aimed at providing high-quality tools, while keeping the environment in mind. With this range, we are proud to be pioneers in the industry," said Trevor Haydon, CEO of Haydn®. “These products are not just for show, like many others that self-proclaim theirselves eco-friendly. We understand that achieving 100% sustainability in this industry may be unattainable, but we've worked hard to ensure that the tools have the least impact on the environment.”

Haydn®UP™ promises not only to meet, but exceed the expectations of environmentally conscious customers and professionals. This range is poised to make a profound impact on the industry by providing tools that are not only practical and aordable, but environmentally responsible. Haydn®UP™ packaging choices The launch of Haydn®UP™ marks a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainability, reflecting the company's commitment to  responsible business practices and its dedication to a brighter and cleaner future. And that commitment extends even to the packaging and promotional materials choices, which include the use of cardboard paper, biodegradable strings and recycled plastic. “Even our signage is crafted using wood-pulp KATZ boards, specifically designed as an eco-conscious substitute for rigid plastic in internal point-of-sale (POS) and display materials. These boards are printed using the latest environmentally certified UL Ecologo and Greenguard Gold inks.’, says Trevor.
