Once upon a time, a clever & brave young man - with lots of entrepreneurial spirit, and a supportive partner Sue, threw convention to the wind and decided to have a crack at making a living from crafting the best brushes in the country. It was either that or go back to law school. And so the Haydn story began.

With stacks of kiwi ingenuity, he & his lady love established a business from scratch. With tenacity and authenticity of their word, they chose a path that allowed them to create the type of business that they wanted. Where your word was your bond, where people matter and where the quality & performance of your product outshone your competitors. They were passionate about each other, their beliefs and had enormous desire to succeed together.

Delivering value to their customers and building lasting relationships remain guiding principles throughout all of the changes and challenges they faced. Their reputation for quality grew. As orders flew in, manufacturing moved from the family home to a commercial factory space.
True to their word, they employed people who shared their values and made strong connections with people in the industry. They worked hard to protect their staff and quality of their products from falling prey to cheaply imported products, challenging central government to change established laws and processes.

Together they looked at destruction caused by the Christchurch earthquakes as an opportunity to establish their business to be even stronger than before, building new premises across the city in the newest industrial hub in the region. Embracing even greater competition in the marketplace, they have embraced new technologies allowing them to continue to adapt and be responsive within the industry.

And now, more than 50 years after bringing their dream to life, they continue to be dedicated to ensuring Haydn brings the best products to the New Zealand market.
